This group delivered stellar customer service and went above and beyond with a smile on their faces. Their professionalism was evident from the start to the very end of the event. OC Public Libraries is proud and fortunate to have such reliable and talented individuals on staff.
Congratulations to February’s Employee of the Month, Ericka Reeb! Since becoming the Branch Manager at the Laguna Niguel Library, Ericka’s goal has been to enhance the patron experience by providing excellent customer service. She and her staff work hard to create a warm, welcoming environment and meaningful, relevant programming for the community. Ericka is passionate about libraries and library service. She recently demonstrated this passion and enthusiasm when she observed long lines of patrons, some sitting on lawn chairs, outside the library hoping to get tickets for author Gloria Steinem’s lecture at the Bowers Museum. Not wanting to disappoint, Ericka told the group how many tickets were available at the Laguna Niguel Library. The group decided amongst themselves to limit the number of tickets to two each. Meanwhile Ericka contacted nearby branches to ask if they had lines and referred patrons to locations where no one was waiting. The result was a few new library cards and very happy patrons!

Congratulations to Ellen McCracken & Tina Liu who are this month’s employees of the month. This 2 person team in our Interlibrary Loan Department, work tirelessly to help OC Public Libraries patrons find materials to meet their needs. Materials are located from all over the U.S. From simple entertainment (light reading) to serious academic or genealogical research. They not only find books, but help to play detective to find older magazine & newspaper articles when very little information is provided to work from. Over their many years working with Interlibrary Loan, they have filled thousands of requests for our patrons as well as requests made for OC Public Libraries’ materials to patrons across the U.S. They are individuals who are always happy to help!

He is dependable, hardworking, and always provides strong customer service. Steven has exceptional technology skills and he uses them to the benefit of the Tustin Library and OC Public Libraries. Whether creating professional recordings for the Social Media/Digital Content Committee or helping a patron or fellow staff member with technological issues, Steven is an asset. Steven’s kindness, sense of humor, and pleasant demeanor are appreciated by his colleagues and the public.
OC Public Libraries is recognizing the Warehouse team as Team of the Month for outstanding patron support. They go above and beyond every day to ensure books, audiobooks and DVDs are available at our libraries!
Congratulations to the OC Read department! The staff of OC Read has demonstrated excellent customer service, flexibility and adaptability. In addition to continuing daily literacy operations, the department has spent the last few months happily assisting at multiple branches by working at the service desk, helping with the Lunch @ the Library and by offering programs. We are grateful for their willingness to assist on all levels and especially for their sunny dispositions.
Over her tenure, Helen has been committed to providing the public with resources and materials in various languages and in all formats, as well as the latest technology to enrich and enhance their educational, recreational and informational needs. She was instrumental in the building of the Irvine Katie Wheeler Library, the Tustin Library and the remodel and expansion of the Laguna Niguel and San Clemente Libraries and in establishing the partnership that brought the dream of the Library of the Canyons into reality. Not only has Helen provided us all with a shining example of hard work and effective leadership, this intrepid renaissance woman has demonstrated to us all, how to live life to the fullest away from the office. Whether hiking, flying a plane, making her own jewelry or traveling to places no one has even heard of, Helen never let working hard get in the way of enjoying all life has to offer. She’s been all over the world, has read just about any book you could name and is always up on the latest movies and she can cook.
