Glenda is an exemplary team player. She plans and conducts toddler and preschool storytimes at Cypress Library and is never too busy to answer a patron's question or questions. She will promote programs, go over the program calendar, explain databases, and electronic services and spend as much time with a patron as they need to feel that they have a good grasp of the Cypress library and all services OCPL offers. She routinely spends extra time with her families after storytimes and has built amazing rapport with her storytime families. Glenda is always thinking of ways to improve current programs or to introduce new programs. She is part of the team that is developing a new hands-on gardening program at Cypress Library utilizing the garden plots at the front entrance of the library. Glenda will always see the positive in any patron interaction, no matter how difficult or frustrating that interaction might be. She is empathetic and supportive of staff and patrons alike. She pairs this empathy with boundless humor and good nature.

Employee of the Month - April 2020
Laura is this month’s Employee of the Month! Laura has empowered countless patrons during her one-on-one Tech Appointments, patiently teaching digital literacy skills on laptops, smartphones, tablets, and eReaders, as well as demonstrating how to access library resources 24/7 on those devices. Laura's Bilingual Storytime's are known to reach capacity because of her joyful storytelling and uplifting singing and fingerplays. She puts in extra effort to coordinate a special activity or craft after storytime, such as the "Canvas y Cuentos" painting event that was enjoyed by children and caregivers. Laura continually contributes creative social media content for our library system. Her clever scavenger hunts, guessing games, and quizzes, entertain while building a real sense of community in Mesa Verde's cozy neighborhood branch. Congratulations, Laura!
Employee of the Month - March 2020
Linda excels in making sure ALL our library patrons feel welcome. Whether leading a crowd of 100 at Bilingual Storytime, helping a library visitor use the computer, or requesting a rare book through interlibrary loan Linda does her best to offer excellent customer service. Linda displays her exceptional character in the way she lends a hand to help her coworkers and offers to help with anything. When she isn’t staffing the library’s service desk you can find Linda conducting class visits with local schools, participating in outreach events, building a network of community partners, organizing craft programs for children, or using her artistic talents to decorate the library by creating beautiful displays and high-quality signage. She serves the community each day with positivity and professionalism. Congratulations, Linda!
