LIBRARY CARD

The full-service library card allows you to borrow materials from all branches of OC Public Libraries. In addition, a full-service library card provides access to online resources, free and discounted Orange County museum and attraction passes, internet access, and more.

To apply for a library card, you must reside in California and provide valid ID.

Patrons younger than 18 years old can register for a library card using the online library card application. The parent/legal guardian of a minor child accepts responsibility for all materials borrowed on this card and for any lost or damaged materials. A parent or guardian needs to agree for responsibility for the card's use by providing their photo ID when picking up the card. Supervision of a minor child’s access to all books and media is the parent/legal guardian’s responsibility. The library does not restrict access to any materials.

To apply for a library card, fill out the online library card application form.

Patrons who already have a regular library card do not need an eCard.

New online registrations expire in 30 days and must be renewed in person. The card profile will be updated once valid photo ID has been presented.

eCARDS

Receive immediate and free access to OC Public Libraries' online resources, including eBooks and audiobooks, movie and tv streaming, and music downloads. eCards do not provide access to computers and cannot check out physical items.  Residents of Orange County can get an eCard by registering online.

If you already have a regular full-access library card, you do not need to sign up for an eCard. Visit one of our library locations to get a full access card or upgrade your eCard.

HOW TO ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT

You can access your library account by logging into the online catalog and clicking "My Account." From here, you can:

  • Renew items, check due dates, and view fees
  • Check status of holds, cancel holds, change pickup location
  • Place a vacation hold  or suspension by entering the dates you will be gone and we will delay your hold until you return
  • Change your PIN/Password
  • Renew your library card

ACCOUNT RENEWAL

Most library card privileges expire every three years. In order to renew your account, please contact one of our branches for assistance.  If you have received an email notice for your card renewal, you may now renew online through My Account.

New online registrations expire in 30 days and must be renewed in person.

Forgot your library card Password/PIN?

A PIN allows you to place holds and access your account online, use the Library’s public computers, and use virtual Library resources. You are given a PIN when you first apply for a library card. If you have a library card but do not have a PIN or have forgotten it, you may contact your local OC Public Libraries branch by telephone (please have your library card and address ready for verification) or you visit My Account, located at the top of the screen. On the next screen click on Forgot my Password and enter your library card. A link will be sent to the email address on record to change it.

COMPUTER CARD

Patrons who are ineligible for library cards (for example, people traveling from out of state or those without a valid photo ID), can apply at one of our branches for an internet only computer card that allows them access to the library’s public internet terminals and printing. Computer cards are valid for one year.
