Your monetary gift supports two key areas:

• Books and Materials: Funds designated for purchasing books, digital materials, and other library resources enhance our system-wide collection.
• Library Services and Programs: Gifts enhance support for programs like Early Literacy, Adult Literacy, Career Online High School, and A Slice of Literary Orange among others with funds allocated at the County Librarian's discretion.

Please note, OC Public Libraries does not accept donations of physical materials for our collection. We purchase items at discounted rates that come shelf ready with labels, barcodes, and covers, making it more cost-effective than processing donated materials. 

Where can I donate books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, or magazines?

If you are looking to donate your physical books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, or magazines, consider contacting one of the Friends of the Library groups. Many accept donations for their book sales, the proceeds of which are used to supplement funding for library programs. Please check their websites or phone ahead to ensure that your donation can be accepted.

You can also recycle books and magazines in your recycle bin, if they are damaged or outdated.

Volunteer

Help your community and enhance OC Public Libraries’ ability to deliver quality service.  Volunteers provide essential assistance, enthusiasm, energy, talents, and a new perspective. You will be trained by professional staff to help where needed.

Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library groups are non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations made up of community volunteers who believe in the value of libraries. They support library programs and projects through fundraising efforts, such as book sales from their bookstores. For information on membership or volunteer opportunities, contact your local library branch.

OCPL Foundation

The Foundation supports the expansion and future development of OC Public Libraries by funding system-wide projects. It operates independently of the libraries and Friends of the Library organizations.
